Our Vision

We strive to make Winterton Primary the best school in our area.

Our aim is to assist today’s learners to become tomorrow’s responsible leaders by providing them with an education that caters for their individual needs and enables them to fulfil their unique potential.

Our Mission

Winterton Primary School strives to provide its learners with a balanced education in a healthy, happy and motivated environment.


Admission Policy

  • Admissions usually take place in October.
  • Forms are available from the admin office or on our website: www.wintertonprimary.co.za.
  • The Principal is available at all times, and especially on the day before a new school year starts, to meet new parents.
  • The official languages of learning and teaching are English and Afrikaans.

School Hours

Grades 1–2

  • Monday – Thursday: 07:45 – 12:30
  • Friday: 07:45 – 13:00


Grades 3–7

  • Monday – Thursday: 07:45 – 14:00
  • Friday: 07:45 – 13:00

Learners must use the entrance at the car park.


Break Times

  • Grades 1–2: 10:15 – 10:30
  • Grades 3–7: First Break 10:15 – 10:30 | Second Break 12:30 – 13:00

School Attendance

  • Parents must provide a written explanation if pupils are absent.
  • If a learner attends an appointment during school hours and returns afterward, an exit form must be completed at the office.
  • Learners are responsible for catching up on any missed work.

Books & Stationery

  • Textbooks are issued by class teachers. Parents must replace any lost or damaged books.
  • Exercise books and stationery are ordered in the fourth term each year and handed out at the beginning of the new year.
  • The cost of stationery is included in school fees.

Sunday School

Sunday School takes place every Wednesday from 13:00 – 14:00 in classrooms.
Parents with religious objections may request that their child spend this time in the library.


School Fees

Winterton Primary is a Public School.

  • School funds are reviewed annually and are compulsory.
  • Fees can be paid in full or over 10 months.

Sport

  • Every learner must participate in at least one school sport per term.
  • Sport takes place:
  • Grades 1–2: 13:00 – 14:00
  • Grades 3–7: 14:00 – 15:15 (at the Country Club or school field)

Learners must report to the quad at 14:00 for register and walk in groups to the Country Club. Parents may collect them at 15:15.


Uniform: White/navy golf shirts and blue shorts/skorts for practices.


Extras:

  • Cross Country (optional, does not count as a term sport).
  • Chess (offered year-round).

Houses

Learners are divided into two houses for sport:

  • Blesbok (Green)
  • Eland (Orange)

House lists are available at the office or on the D6 Communicator. House t-shirts can be purchased from the finance office.


School Uniform

Purchase: Available from the Finance Office:

  • 07:30 – 08:15
  • 12:30 – 13:00
  • 14:00 – 14:30 (closed after 13:00 on Fridays).


All items must be paid upfront.

Please ensure all clothing, lunchboxes, bottles, bags, and sports equipment are clearly marked.


Summer (1st & 4th Terms)

Girls: Blue and white checked dress, white ankle socks, school jersey, black shoes.

Boys: Khaki shirt & shorts, grey knee socks, school jersey, black shoes.

Both: School Mac jackets on rainy days.


Winter (2nd & 3rd Terms)

Girls: Blue/white checked dress, navy tights or long grey socks, school jersey, black shoes.

Boys: Chino trousers (WPS store) or khaki shorts, khaki shirt, grey socks, black shoes, school jersey.

Both: Mac jackets for rainy days.

Tracksuits may not be worn as part of the uniform, except at designated sports events.


General:

  • Second-hand clothing available (contact school).
  • No nail polish allowed. Hair accessories must be navy or white.

Extramural Activities

  • 1st Term: Cricket, Mini Cricket, Swimming, Tennis
  • 2nd Term: Boys & Girls Hockey, Mini Hockey, Rugby, Tennis

  • 4th Term: Cricket, Mini Cricket, Swimming, Tennis

External Activities:

Please notify the school office of any change of address or contact numbers.


Reports

Reports are issued on the last day of each term.

  • Requests for early reports must be made in writing to the class teacher.
