OUR VISION

We strive to make Winterton Primary the best school in our area.

Our aim is to assist today’s learners to become tomorrow’s responsible leaders by providing them with and education which caters for their own individual needs and enables them to fulfil their unique potential.

Winterton Primary School strives to provide its learners with a balanced education in a healthy, happy and motivated environment.

ADMISSION POLICY

Admissions usually take place in October.  Forms are available from the admin office or on our website: www.wintertonprimary.co.za.   The Principal is available at all times, but especially the day before a new school year starts, to see new parents.    The official languages of learning and teaching are English and Afrikaans.

SCHOOL HOURS 

Grade   1 - 2  Monday - Thursday  07:45 - 12:30

Friday 07:45 - 13:00 

Grade 3 - 7 Monday - Thursday 07:45 - 14:00

Friday 07:45 - 13.00

 

Learners must use the entrance at the car park.

BREAKS 

Grade 1 - 2  First Break 10:15 - 10:30

Grade 3 - 7 First Break 10:15 - 10:30; Second Break 12:30 - 13:00

SCHOOL ATTENDANCE

Parents must give a written explanation if pupils are absent.  When a pupil has to attend an appointment during school hours, and is coming back to school afterwards, an exit form must be completed at the office.  It is the child’s responsibility to catch up any work that is missed.

  

BOOKS

Text books are issued by the class teacher.  Should any of these be lost or damaged, parents are expected to replace them. Exercise books and stationery are ordered in the fourth term every year.  These orders will stay at school to be handed out at the beginning of the New Year.    The cost of the stationary is built in to the school fees.

 

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Sunday School takes place every Wednesday from 13:00-14:00 in the class rooms.  If a parent has religious objections to this, they may let the school know and the child will spend the session in the library.

SCHOOL FEES

Winterton Primary School is a Public School.  School funds are reviewed annually and are compulsory.  School fees can be paid in full or over 10 months.  For more information regarding school fees click here.

 

SPORT

Children MUST participate in at least one school sport per term.

Sport takes place from 13:00-14:00 for Grade 1 & 2 and 14:00-15:15 for Grade 3 – 7, at the Country Club or on the school field.  Children must report to the quad at 14:00 for register and walk up in a group to the club.  They may be picked up from the club at 15:15.  You may not give other children, except your own, lifts to the club or school.  Children wear their white / navy blue golf shirts and blue shorts / skort for practices.

*  Cross Country is offered as an extra, but does not count as a sport per term.

*  Chess is offered throughout the year.

 

HOUSES

The learners are divided into two houses for sport: Blesbok (green) and Eland (orange).  A list of which children are in which house is available at the school office or on the D6 Communicator.  All children are required to purchase a house t-shirt from the finance office for use at inter-house events.

 

SCHOOL UNIFORM

Uniform can be bought from the Finance Office between 07:30-08:15; 12:30-13:00 and

14:00-14:30. The Uniform shop will not be open after 13:00 on a Friday.

A list is available from the finance office.

Uniforms may NOT be purchased on account.

 

Please ensure that all clothing, lunch boxes, juice bottles, bags and sports equipment are marked.

SUMMER: 1st and 4th term

Girls – Blue and white checked dress, white ankle-length socks, school jersey and black school shoes.

Boys – Khaki shirts and shorts, grey knee-length socks, school jersey and black shoes.

Boys and Girls – School Mac Jackets may be worn on rainy days.

​

WINTER: 2nd and 3rd Term

Girls – Blue and white checked school dress, navy blue tights OR long grey socks, black school shoes and school jersey.

Boys – Chino style trousers (WPS clothing store) OR khaki shorts, khaki shirt, grey socks, black school shoes and school jersey. Mac Jackets may be worn over the uniform.

Tracksuits may not be worn as part of the school uniform; only to specified sports events.

GENERAL

Second hand clothing is available from an independent supplier. Contact the school for further information.

No nail polish may be worn. Alice bands, clips and hair elastics may be navy or white.

Please keep the secretaries informed of all changes of addresses and telephone numbers.

 

REPORTS

These are sent out on the last day each term. If you request reports earlier, it must be done in writing and sent to the class teacher.
